I've seen people crochet plastic bags into reusable grocery bags. I LOVED the idea. So I took a shot at it. Halfway through I thought about it, and I wanted to make it into a clutch purse instead. Check it out! Grin

I lined it with extra fabric I had from a previous bag I made.

It's quite roomy actually.

It was so much fun to make! I'll be making more soon. For crochet-ers, I used a triple crochet stitch and a size 8 hook. The bags are Walmart plastic bags. As far as how many bags it took to make this??? I'm sorry, I didn't count. You take a plastic bag, cut off the bottom and top, and then cut it into one long strip.....I should post a tutorial next time I make one and then I can be more precise huh? Would anyone be interested in a tute?

The possibilities are endless! I want to make a black one out of those big black garbage bags. And as far as the style of purse, you can do other kinds besides a clutch. The wheels are turning in my head.

I would LOVE to hear suggestions as to what else you can do with crochet plastic bags. Lets see, you can make floor mats, car mats, place mats, coasters, produce bags, shelf liners...hmm, what else can we do guys?

Thanks for looking! Tongue

I haven't crocheted anything in years, so I missed this plastic bag trend.  Your post makes me want to try this!  I like how the Blue Walmart logo blends in and gives it a sort of marbled appearance.
