Hi,

I picked up this circular seed bead stitch in a Bead and Button magazine that I've since lost and use it for lots of things. Here's a few examples:

This first necklace uses 30 guage craft wire for the bead caps and the peyote circles, but thread for the strands of the necklace. It looks white from my camera flash, but the palest piece is a dull purple not even close to white.

To make the bead caps (below), I start with the basic circle as above, and add beads in the gaps and pull tight to start to make a tube, then keep adding beads as you would in any other peyote stitch. I know these bead caps are different sizes, not sure how that happened.

Here's another way I've used this stitch:

And here's a ring I made using a peyote circle as a base:

The circle of black and blue is the peyote circle in thread, the yellow centre is french beaded in wire.

The band is Victorian or ladder stitched in wire.

What do you think of the pieces? Also, if anyone knows, can you tell me if this is the basic circular peyote stitch or if I have been using a variation, and is how I have been doing it the usual way to move from circular peyote to tubular peyote, or have I made up something else entirely?

I hate to be the one saying this but from what I can see of the first 'white' circle - that isnt true circular peyote stitch. It looks like you have the second row bead lying the wrong way.

Circular Peyote should look like this:

never mind though - they are still very pretty  Grin

Wow, these are so cool! I love your necklace. The stitch kind of reminds me of a circular brick stitch technique I learned also from Bead and Button.

Was it a 'noughts and crosses' bracelet pattern? That might be the one! Could the mystery stitch be named after all? Heh heh.
