So it drives me crazy that so many people on etsy have the same stuff, so I was wondering if anyone knew of some smaller craft stores I could go to in south florida (more in broward or dade than anything else) where I could get some more unique crafting supplies?

btw, I'm new. Hi. Kiss

I'm still pretty new to Miami so I can't help you with specific stores but my favorite way of finding unique supplies is just to go thrifting or to garage/estate sales. I've found the best vintage fabric piled away in Goodwills. What's even better, because the stores always have tons, is to look through all the linens (sheets, curtains, etc). They provide a lot a yardage and are sometimes just as good as raw fabric cuts. And of course you can find a lot of cute vintage clothes to alter too.

And welcome to Craftster! I like your name  Cheesy

recessionista, are you new to soflo or just to craftster?

there is a GREAT little art store on hollywood blvd., just west of 441, it's called nina's. they do custom framing and its mostly art supplies, but there are some random craft stuff too. it's really old and they tend to have strange stuff laying around.

another place that is great for resources is trash 2 treasure. it's located in ft. lauderdale, in a warehouse area off of powerline road and commercial blvd. you have to buy a membership (40 or 50 bucks i think) which entitles you to a year or a certain number of trips for the year where you may take as much stuff as you'd like. it is all recycled and reclaimed materials. tons of fabric, paper products, glass jars, old cards. last time i went i scooped up posters for my classroom, styrofoam trays and plastic cups to use in the studio for water and palettes, and an armload of childrens' books from the 70s that i am psyched to turn into journals. check out their website for more details... i think its trash2treasurefl.org
