Inspired by this post at Craft Chi http://craftchi.com/blog/?p=1011, I made these little magnetic bookmarks from a few of the pieces from an old magnetic poetry kit I had lying around. The magnets keep the bookmarks from falling out, so they're great for travel. I use one in my purse book -- the book I always have with me in case of long lines at the grocery or post office. One's covered in paper and the other's scrap fabric I embroidered before gluing it on. They're a really quick, fun project, and all you need is one of those advertising magnets, decorative paper or fabric and some glue (I used Elmer's white glue).

Those are SO cool! I've never seen those before, and my bookmarks are always falling out! I may have to try this!

Okay so once again I am completely redoing my pictures. Got tired of photobucket, the only reason I used it was for here so I decided I will just use Craftster's photo uploader. So while I am switching over my photo links will be broken. Message me if there is a post you would like the pics for.

Cool stuff.  I made these once, only I made mine from old greeting cards.  I love yours.  Nice job.

What a neat idea.  I should definantly try these.  I could use them and I knw a few other bookworms that would like some of these as well. Grin

I think I'll swipe this idea to make Route 66-themed bookmarks for my students.

I have a book of old '20s and '30s matchbook advertising cuts that would be just about the right dimensions for bookmarks like these. Might even make a good class project for teaching vocabulary or steps in the writing process or something -- the kids could decorate their bookmarks with the word or concept of the day.
