My fiance and I live in a 2nd floor apartment, however our stairs are inside the apartment and thus we have this weird foyer/entryspace that is basically just....4 feet square maybe? I was thinking I should make a rug to put down there to wipe our feet (and our dog's) when we come in (so think easily washable) and also to perhaps brighten up the foyer. I was going to buy an area rug and then I realized that in that size they can be pretty pricey.... I was thinking about crocheting one but I'm not sure if I want to tackle a large scale crochet project at the moment. Has anyone else made a rug before out of any other materials, or have any other ideas?

You could always take old sheets and tear them into strips to make "yarn" and use that to crochet with a large hook, that would go fast.
i saw an episode of surprise by design were they used oversized thick fabric placemats that they stitch up with twine, it looked really nice, and it only cost around 20 for a 5x7 rug
check clearance shelves at local stores for small, thick blankets or  get two and sew them together quilt style.
good luck!

If corn oil is made from corn, and vegetable oil is made from vegetables, what is baby oil made from?
