So I've been lax in my panting and drawing practice, so I decided to do a tonal portrait more realistic that I normally do. It turned out rather bad, but I felt like sharing. No reference. It's all done digitally and it took me about 3 or 4 hours.

Are you using a graphics tablet? I love this. This person is a stranger to you? Really awesome and very unique features as this doesn't remind me of anyone.

Yes, I'm using an old wacom tablet to draw with. The person is someone out of my head, not even someone I can remember having seen, although she kinda looks like a girl I went to elementary school with.

I really like it.  I did a self portrait with a tablet one time and it turned out awful but yours is so pretty maybe I will revisit mine. Great work!

@tighttights : You might have better luck starting your portrait over. Often times you (and me and a lot of others) will waste more time trying to fix mistakes than taking what you learned from the first try and starting a second try.

@lovesclutter :if it's half decent you should be able for find updated drivers for it.

It was a graphire and I loved it. I should. I use xp for all my puters now. Don't want to upgrade, but I can't draw with a pencil, what makes me think I could accomplish something so refined. I do have some art projects in the works.

I got a drawing faces book and did a couple. I should dig those out and show everyone what a newbie I am. LOL

this one is so great I couldn't believe it was digital.

yep. Wacom still has those drivers online and it looks like they're still updating them for some models of the graphire.

I just picked the first graphire on the list, not knowing the exact model of your tablet.

Thanks, I may get that and use on the desktop, which has more room. Mine was a usb with a pad, pen and mouse. Mouse was kinda flaky, but I got the sensitivity working pretty well.

I can only aspire (pun) to your talent. Wink

eta, acer aspire netbook is what I am using right now.

Cool beans. Best of luck and stuff. Your tablet should have its model number on the bottom which may help in getting the right driver, although I don't see having the almost right tablet being too much of a problem. I've used my tablet on my home PC with the correct driver and also on an imac with Bamboo drivers which also worked with an Intuos and the really big snazzy screen-type tablet that one of my classmates has. So basically what I'm saying is that pretty much any wacom driver will make your tablet work to a useable degree.
