I am in awe.  The transformation is completely beautiful.

I will say, I have latched on to the idea of arranging books by their color now.  *eyes the books surrounding me*  We have bookcases in every room of the apartment (except the bathroom) and I could use a rainbow shelf or case.

It sounds so right, it sounds just like Im there
In my headphones
I sing out loud and make the bus stop people stare
In my headphones
Their lips all move but the sounds all drowned away

This is such an inspiring post! Scrolling through all of those pictures, I could just feel how incredibly overwhelmed I'd be by everything you guys went through to make the bedroom your own (I'm overwhelmed just tidying my bedroom - remodeling is a whole other level!). It was all so so worth it! Your bedroom looks beautiful, it looks like a perfect sanctuary. Thanks for sharing this whole amazing story with us all:)

I love it.  You do have great taste!

and I"m glad someone asked about the bird cuz I was going to. Quiet cats are always a bad sign.

Wow I felt like I just watched something from HGTV.  I loved everything.  Where on EARTH did you get those amazing branchy lights on each side of the bed??  Those were AMAZING!

And I have to add, the newspaper.  I work for the Trib... apparently the Pittsburgh Tribune Review is the "new" Pittsburgh Press.  Meaning... the Trib bought it, as they buy just about every newspaper around town except for the Post Gazette.   Roll Eyes

I love all of it... and you've encouraged me to get a move on my bedroom redo which I've been avoiding since I first wanted a new adult room.   Undecided  Thanks, and congratulations!

I love it - I have been eyeing those cherry blossom globe lights too and they look fantastic in your room.  Your dog chewing up the underpad reminds me of when when our dog Ginger had leg surgery.  We had our small hallway blocked in and carpetted just so that she would have a safe place to rest and she tore up that carpet in the half our we were gone from the house :C  What a beast.

Your entire post gives me hope.  We bought a 50+ year old ex-farmhouse that was a foreclosure sale as well, and have been slowly chipping away at it.  DH tore out entire walls, I have no closets, etc.  This Spring, he tore off the roof, and we have the second story framed, windowed, and roofed.  We can't go ahead and do anything else, because we are waiting on building inspectors, but all the cityworkers are on strike right now.  I am so mad at one of the idiot neighbours down the street because he is bragging to others how he put a halt to us by calling and making a complaint about something, which is why we have to wait for the inspector - even though we know we are above code - DH renovates for a living.  Some people can't be happy unless they cause grief for others.

Regardless, that second story is our bedroom and master ensuite (well, will be) and I love how yours came out looking so soothing, like it really is a place to retreat to and rest.  I hope to be able to have that feel to my room one day too.  Great job.  I hope the bird made it out safely :\

That is so great! And there's no doubt that there would've been evidence of foul play even if the bird had just been frightened by the cats and still escaped. All those little feathers that instantly fall off when they get scared for their life. But how did he get in and out?!
Anyways, your bedroom is wonderful, I feel very happy for you after that enormous story, it's like I was there too. Hope that the house is easier from here on out!
