I am a pretty big Harry Potter fan, and even though I don't think the movies are that good I still love to go see them (but I definitly think HBP is going to be fab). So because I'm really excited for the movie to come out, and July is my month to get my but back in gear I decided to make something to wear when I go see the movie. Most likely I'll wear the shirt alot, it's fab, but I'll probably only wear the skirt a few times (like for halloween).

Funky Dark Mark Shirt!
I found this really funky skull fabric at Joanns yesterday! I didn't know what I was going to do with it, but I knew I had to buy it (it's actually kinda hard to find really awesome fabrics at joanns). And today when I was watching a commercial (pretty sure it was for trix yougurt) I was inspired to make a sweater dress out of these super 5XL sweatshirts I got a CVS. After I sewed it to fit me I put some purple stitches around the sleeve edges, and for some reason that reminded me of Bellatrix (and mroe specifically a shirt that bluesisteralex made in the HP swap). So that's how i decided to make it into a dark mark shirt. I found a picture of the dark mark online and transfered the different parts to some green fabrics i had, then I made the whole thing into an aplique and sewed all those tiny lines with my sewing machine! I loved every minute of making this shirt!

Hogwarts House Skirt - Slytherin
It's just another applique on a pleated skirt business. The skirt doesn't fit very well at all, but that's ok, it looks fine under my shirt. It gets kinda gappy in the back. The Hogwarts crest I got off a little kids nightgown.

What do you think?

I'm excited to see someone else gearing up for Harry Potter! I love your interpretation of the dark mark, and that skirt is fab.
