for the pleats in the directions you gave, i dont really get the ribbon part. so i was wondering if you could just do the pleats regularly like how you did in your clutch bag. i wasnt sure if i did it that way it would mess up the bag since you would cut above the pleasts straight. so yeah i was just wondering, thanks.

You're the metaphors I can't create to comprehend this curse that I call love..

i made one, but the part where your fingers go in the handle ended up being quite small. i can only fit like 4 fingers in there. haha.

i'll post pictures tomorrow.

i think that the reason some are having problems with the pleating/ gathering (which ultimately resulted in a miniscule opening and a very spacious interior) is because the beginning length of the cloth in the tute is too short. i too have tried this tute, and also ended with a hole good for putting small things in, but never being able to take them back out. somewhat like a piggy bank. :]

i think laurasaurus's tute meant that the beginning length of her purse (21") means that it is AFTER she had finished the gathering/ pleating. so i say that you should start off with perhaps 1/3 more that length...? maybe 28"? or maybe double it to 42"... i havent tried it out yet, but i think that will solve our problems. please tell me if im wrong... im just envisioning these images in my head, so im not sure if it will actually work. good luck!

i agreed to make this for a swap

and good god let me tell you this was incredibly hard.

Been working on it for 4 hours and still doesnt look anywhere nearthe original.

Broke my needle about 3 times trying to sew thruogh the peltex.

Attatching the handles has taken the longest. The lining isnt wokring how its suppost to with the handle, and to make my stitches look better had to satin stitch nearly every visible stitch. Like when iattachthe handle i get this flap of fabric behind it that has both linining and outter fabric showing.

What am i doing wrong.

Am i making this harder than its supposed to be?

I know you showed this months and months ago, but it is just so cute!  I really love the vintage look of it!
