Hi all you lovely craftsters!
This summer, I'm traveling to Europe with my sister, and we need some way of carrying money around. I've shopped around for money belts a bit, but I'm not crazy about any of the ones I've seen. I tend to wear tighter clothing and money belts seem lumpy (and I don't really want to stick my hands down my pants in order to get money, either  Roll Eyes )
Do you have any suggestions of how I could make some cute, clever money holders?

I once saw a money "belt" that was just the size of a credit card and had a little tab dealie on the back so that you can attach it to your bra-strap just above the cup. I don't recall if the tab had velcro or a snap, but either would work.

Unfortunately, all I could find was this one on About, which isn't the one I have in mind:

There's also the kind that rests between your breasts. It has two straps that attach to each bra-strap with snaps:

You can also mount a money pouch on half-inch or one-inch elastic and pull it up around your thigh with the pouch comfortably close to your underparts but not in your pants. I've seen those for sale at a jewellery/accessories/keepsake store, geared towards clubbers. I think they were $15 each, which was totally highway robbery considering how they were two rectangles sewn together with velcro at the top and mounted on an elastic. Here's something that was kinda like it, except this is actually better made, although smaller:
I found a review that stated there is velcro on the underside of the garter and on the topside of the wallet, so that when you put the wallet under the garter, the velcro holds it in place. I personally would mount the pouch right on to elastic because a mugger could still get your money pouch if they grab it firmly enough to seperate the velcro. It's alot harder to tear stitching out of elastic, perhaps giving you enough time to punch said mugger in the face.

I also found peachymanaangel's arm-pocket, but I don't think that'd work too well for summer time.

There's also belts that have a zipper on the inner side concealing a long thin pocket, but you can't fit your credit card or anything into those:

For the things you can afford to have stolen, like your camera, water bottle, snacks, etc, I'd suggest a hip-sling like rocknroar's or a belt-pocket like amarock's.

Have fun in Europe!

I made this in January & have been using it ever since: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=285699.0

I love how convenient this is & so easy. You could transform any wristlet into this. It's not bulky at all & if you wear a jacket or long shirt, it would cover & keep it secure plus you have your hands free for carrying all the goodies you'll be buying. You wouldn't have to fuss to get at your money w/this.

Wow, thanks so much everyone! They're all awesome suggestions.
I'm going to talk to my sister and see if there's anything in particular she wants. I think we're basically just looking for something cuter than money belts and that doesn't require awkward under-the-clothing reaches to get money Cheesy

What do you guys think about a small bag that would attach to a belt loop but you could slip inside a front pocket? Would that even work? Huh

that's what I did - and if the strap's long enough you can even tuck it inside your pants (although it sounds like you wouldn't want to do that). I used a dark colored strap because I wore black pants every day (not the SAME pair!  Cheesy ) so the strap wouldn't be so obvious.

My dad sewed his pockets shut just enough so his wallet fit exactly in the opening without much wiggle room  - it made it kind of slow to pull it out to pay for something, but it made it harder for someone to just slid their hand in and grab the wallet.

This looks awesome! I have to make one for going to theme parks now that they FORCE you to buy a locker to get on any good rides if you have even just a tiny wristlet or even a fanny pack. *grumblemumble!!*
