Inside pics added to page 5 + 9!  This camper has its own Progress Blog! http://popstarantics.blogspot.com/

Okay folks - my parents have this crazy cool camper that was built in 1962 that they are giving to my husband and I!  They bought it when I was like .. 9 (13 years ago) for the purpose of using it to move from our old house in FL to our now house in TN.  So, for the past 12 years, it has been a yard decoration and for 12 years I have totally despised it, begging them to sell it and get rid of it.  Well, my mom and dad know that my husband and I like camping every year, so they decided to give it to us.  At first I was hesitant, but then I came to the realization that I have NEVER seen another cool vintage camper like this at campgrounds or on the road!  So now I am totally psyched to get it cleaned up and restored to original glory.  Its going to require a decent amount of time and money - a couple of broken windows, trim replacement, mattress replacement on the inside (most likely going to be memory foam from JoAnns or something.) and of course paint, inside curtains and other things.

*Today I took a pressure washer to it and really got it cleaned on the outside!  Will be ready to paint in a couple days!

I need your help deciding on colors!  I was thinking that shiny candy apple red with black or silver trim might be cool.  My husband suggested stenciling some sort of artwork on it, but we are totally clueless!  I would really appreciate your input of what you think and I would love to hear your ideas.  I would really like to post pictures as we go.

I can't wait to hear what you think!!!!   Huh  Grin Cool

That is adorable! I love the candy apple red, another color I think of is turquoise/blue green? I'm not sure of your personality as for stencils, but maybe something racy like flames? Or cute like flowers or clouds? Good luck Smiley

what if you did something totally pscyhedelic and painted it to look think some of the hippie vans from the 60's.  With peace signs, flowers, or just make it look like a total trip.

I like the idea of red (it's my favourite colour, so I may be slightly biased) and for stencils I'm picturing big, white calligraphic 50's style writing saying ... well, I'm not sure on that!  Maybe your last name?

My parents had a camper like this years ago and they fixed it up and it was great, a dump when they got it but they made it really nice. they turned around and gave it away of course but we used it for alot of years first.

Instead of decorating it, you should give it to ME! (you can just go back to despising it, that way it'll be like I'm doing you a favor... Isn't that nice of me? Heehee! Grin)  Man, that thing is DOPE!!!

I am going to be no help at all  Grin I'll tell you what I would do with it!  I would take that thing for a sparkle finish deep coat in red! Drool tastic!

You are going to have so much fun fixing this baby up! You had better keep us informed Smiley

Looking for dead pointe shoes.

Red with chrome sounds great! Really classic and showy, for sure.  i vote no stencils , but some great curtains would be a cute touch.
