Ages ago, for the Harry Potter Holiday Swap, I made a soft bound leather journal for my partner, based on something I saw on her wist.  (It's HERE)  At the time, I made two page blocks, mostly so I could practice some more.  I finally got around to finishing the other block, as a father's day present to take home to dad tomorrow.  The only thing I'm unhappy about is the button on it.  I like the color, but not the design.  I think I might swap it out for another button when I get home.

The pages are a soft grey blue, and the cover is made of black suede.
Whole journal, closed:

actually, Im thinking of doing this for someone special.
Ive just never tried it so dont know how to begin exactly

I like your button.
The center particularly.
It looks kind of like a clover
and the inside fabric looks good with the black

Well, to make the page block, start with this tutorial:  Daydreaming On Paper

I found the information here helpful:  Teesha

If you want to try a simpler cover binding to start, look at this one from Boy's Life  It's the one I used on Nurseninja's Twilight journal for the Round 5 Swap.
