Alright, I know this probably doesn't count as an FO to anyone else, but I've be crocheting for nearly a year, and for some reason granny squares scared the hell out of me.  I'm more of a free-form, wing-it, seat-of-your-pants type of crafter, you know?

But anyway, I got a bee in my bonnet, a bug up my butt, what have you, to learn to crochet a granny square.  And thanks to the youtube videos by crochet-mania I did it!  (Mostly.)

It's not perfect, and the yarn is ugly as sin, but it's a 5 round traditional granny square.  I'm not happy with the final corner, but gimme a break, y'all!  It's my first one!

I might have to frame the damn thing!

(Is it terrible that I can't tell you if that's the front or the back? LMAO!)

C&C desired, encouraged, and welcome!

I am walking 12 hours straight for my local Relay For Life event.  [a href="http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR/RelayForLife/RFLFY11MW?px=16690269&pg=personal&fr_id=30095"]Please support me![/a href] I'm only 40% to my goal! =0(

way to go!  Cheesy  I've been working on a granny square blanket for almost 2 years ... and I only pick it up when I have no other projects to work on. Needless to say, I've had to re-learn granny squares about 10-15 times. Some of them are different than others, but I finally bookmarked the tut I used for most of them.

Happy hooking!  You're well on your way!

Looks good!
Crocheted squares often form a 'cup' shape on the front side. If there is a side that the edges seem to curl on (like if you rest it on a table only the middle is touching) then that is the front.
It looks like it is backside up there.

That's great! I still have not managed to make a Granny Square. I'm more of a scarf/blanket person.
