there are a fair few posts scattered around about things for easter, passover etc etc. Would it be possible to have a religious crafting section, for all those religion based crafts, be they festival specific, or everyday (such as kippot, rosary etc)

Craftaholic on the loose....I just....     ...need...          ...one...               ...more...                    ...shot...                         ...of craftahol...

Hello! I thought it would be great if we could have a board for religious/spiritual crafts. I enjoy crafting for my path and i'm sure there are others who do too. Theres more to being a religious person than just celebrating holidays. I know when i search for Pagan/Wiccan crafts i only really come up with the swap galleries.

Jewish, Christian, Catholic, Wicca, Pagan, whatever your chosen religion/spiritual path wouldn't it be great to find some inspiration? Crafting for my new found path of Wicca brings me more satisfaction and enlightenment than if i didn't craft for it at all.

Imagine finding how to make a rosary or menorah or candles for rituals/holidays.

What do you all think?

This is a good idea, but I think those crafts would actually suffer from being separated to a specific board. A knitted prayer shawl, or an embroidered pentacle would probably get a lot more attention in Knitting and Needlework than in a spiritual board - plus, you might have the problem of Christians not necessarily being interested in Wiccan crafts, and vice-versa.

I've seen swaps with this theme before, though! You should check those out.

ithink if you search for it, but dont find much, it doesnt have enough generated interest to justify a whole board

and i agree with antarcticraft, crafts might not get as much attention if removed from the boards fof which the craft is associated

if you make something for a specific purpose, you should definitely put that purpose in the post Smiley

i think im back....9 months almost to the day but i miss art, and i missed you guys!

Sometimes you just don't find anything in a search because the search terms are too broad, and searching for every specific possibility would take forever.  For instance, if there are threads about menorahs, prayer shawls, challah covers, and Seder plates, they may amount to plenty of posts - but never come up if you search for "Jewish" crafts.

I think a keyword-tagging system would be really helpful for this sort of thing.  I looked for "Christian" swaps the other day and had a hard time finding anything - because the swaps were all called something like "I love Jesus Swap," so my search term wasn't there.  But if I were tagging such a thread, I would definitely use "Christian" as a tag, and then it would show up whether I searched for the topic or the name.
