For my son's second birthday party this weekend, he had a Sesame Street theme.  I made him an Elmo cake using a Wilton shaped pan, but I also made sugar cookies!  I had seen a website where someone had made cupcakes using Sesame Street character faces, but I wanted to do sugar cookies since I didn't want to have too much cake left over.   Anyway, on to pictures.

Bert, Grover, and Cookie Monster.

Oscar, Big Bird, Ernie, and Zoe.

Abby and Elmo.

On to the close-ups.

Elmo was decorated using a star tip with red icing, then given two eyes using one jumbo marshmallow, his nose was a pumpkin flavored candy that I bought at the candy place in the mall because it was big.  His mouth is half of an Oreo.

I'm most proud of Abby.  Her fur was made using a star tip with pink icing.  Her eyes are white M&Ms bought at a candy store.  Her nose and mouth are made using a cherry Starburst.  Her pigtails are made using one jumbo marshmallow cut in half and purple icing with a hair tip.  Freckles are purple icing with a round tip.

Oscar was green icing using the hair tip.  His mouth is half an Oreo.  His eyes are white M&Ms and his eyebrows are black icing.

Zoe 's fur is orange icing with a star tip.  Her eyes are white M&Ms .  Her nose is part of a strawberry Starburst.  Her mouth is half an Oreo with red icing on top.  I did her hair with the hair tip and the bows with a round tip.

Grover is decorated with blue icing using a star tip.  His eyes are white M&Ms and his nose is a pink gumball.  His mouth is half an Oreo placed at an angle with red icing piped on the outside.

Big Bird was made using yellow icing and one of the tips used for flowers normally.  His eyes are white M&Ms and his beak was made using a lemon Starburst with red icing piped in the mouth.

Cookie Monster was decorated with blue icing and a hair tip.  His eyes are one jumbo marshmallow and his mouth is half an Oreo.

Ernie was frosted orange.  His eyes are white M&Ms and his nose is a red peanut M&M.  His mouth is half an Oreo and his hair is black icing.

Bert was frosted yellow.  His eyes are white M&Ms and his nose is a pumpkin malt ball.  His mouth, hair, and eyebrows are black frosting.

Elmo cake.  It was Funfetti cake mix and buttercream frosting.

Letter sugar cookies I made since my son is also obsessed with the alphabet.  The plates and stuff I found had Sesame Street characters in the middle and the alphabet going around the outside.  I just decorated these with the leftover frosting from the other cookies using a star tip.

The whole sweet spread.  We made Mexican food to eat before the cake and cookies.

Wow! I am COMPLETELY blown away! These are so amazing!

I would have flipped over these as a kid, but I'm flipping over them even more now because I know and appreciate how much creativity and effort went into them!

And, I love that you did them on cookies instead of on cupcakes--the faces probably stay put better on cookies anyway.

I would have done anything for one of those cookie monster cookies...but all of them are so great!  I love the alphabet cookies, too.

What a great idea!   You obviously put a lot of work into these!  Great job!  My 2yr old would go nuts for this!  I think I would too Smiley
