My girlfriend has the broadest musical knowledge of anyone I know. She is obsessed with her iTunes playlists. Strangely, she does not have an iPod. Even though she can mix a great CD with everyone from Holly Near to Atmosphere, the Rolling Stones have always been her favorite. She loves (loves loves loves times infinity) the Rolling Stones. So when I thought, "I want to get her an iPod," I knew I had to make her this to wrap it in.

I stitched the image onto a separate piece of fabric so that it could be sewn on like a patch. Someday she'll want a new iPod with different dimensions, and this way I don't have to restitch it on a new case. (I'm sweet, but I'm also a bit lazy.) I made the pattern from the Minipop Rolling Stones: Modern version (http://www.flipflopflyin.com/minipops/index.html).

Here's the front. Vinyl windows, opening at the bottom, velcro tab at the top.

Holy moses! That is the coolest thing I have seen on here in a long time. Personally, I am obsessed with the Beatles -- but Rolling Stones are in the top 5! That is seriously amazing. She'll love it! ...and if she doesn't, PM me for my address Wink

Now the wintertime is coming,
The windows are filled with frost.
I went to tell everybody,
But I could not get across.
Well, I wanna be your lover, baby,
I don't wanna be your boss.
Don't say I never warned you
When your train gets lost.

This is awesome. My boyfriend LOVES the Rolling Stones TIMES INFINITY too!! Do you mind passing along the cross-stitch pattern? Not sure what I would stitch it on.. I'd have to get creative like you did. You did such a great job!!!

Thank you!

Do you mind passing along the cross-stitch pattern?

What I did was put the Minipop image into a grid, then put the computer by me and just used the screen image as my pattern. If you PM me, I can send you the grid-ed up image. If you enlarge it, it works out pretty well.

One thing I would do differently is not worry so much about matching EVERY SINGLE COLOR. I used way more colors than I needed to -- I mean really, can you honestly see the color difference between the two reds on Mick's shirt? And the color difference on the 4th guy's pant legs actually looks dumb (though I swear I matched it well to the image -- it looks better on the monitor than it does in real life). And I think I used three different shades of light blue (one would have been fine!), and five browns (two or three would have been fine!). Also, Keith's shirt should be more purple. I don't know what happened there.

Here are the DMC colors I would get if I did it again:

761 (skin)
321 (all the reds)
3031 (4th guy's vest, tie, pants)
157 or 794 (makes little to no difference) (all the blues and the 4th guy's -- maybe I should learn his name? -- hair)
3863 Mick's hair
801 Mick's hair
844 Keith's hair (I think I used 844 and 801)

Keith's shirt had these three colors, but when you look at the image yourself, you'll probably decide to go with something more purple than these:

3609 Keith's shirt (cuffs)
3608 Keith's shirt
3733 Keith's shirt

I used waste canvas (obviously), which I haven't used since, um, EVER. It was easy for me to miscount, so I'd recommend starting with Keith's shoes (the guy on the left). Then his legs. Then Mick's shoes and legs. Then the 3rd guy's shoes and legs. Etc. Work your way up and across. It actually goes pretty quickly, because it's only about 30 high x 35 wide.

Great work.
I think you ever managed to capture how wasted Keith looks, albeit in pixel format!  Cheesy
Thanks for posting the instructions as well.
