I had enough left of the fabric I used to make my Victorian bodice/jacket to make a matching bustle (yippee!)

This is from Simplicity 2851-I've made a bustle from it before (for my Steampunk Pirate Halloween costume: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=276530.msg3127924#msg3127924) and liked the looks of it, without all the crazy support garments, cages (can't remember proper term) necessary for real bustles. This version has a shorter train, which I prefer to the longer "saloon girl" one.

Bustle:

I was pretty proud of getting the pattern to line-up (with a limited amount of fabric left).

...

With Jacket/Bodice (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=305000.0) (and brown leggings):

(oops, you can see a bit of the waistband-should've made it a hair smaller... it's a smidge loose)

...

With Chemisette & Corset (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=301991.msg3449422#msg3449422) (and black leggings):

...

Just need my gloves, parasol, and boots and I'll be ready to go! (where exactly, I'm not sure...)

I loved the jacket when I saw it the other night, but this just tops it all. This Rocks.

The skirt is totally amazing!  I need to try this, it seems really fun for a steampunk type thing, fun, totally wearable, yet unusual and a bit costumey too.  I was admiring the jacket in your other post too.  Really great job on both pieces, and I really like them together too!

(I love the red lining in the jacket too, btw!)

When will bustles come back? They're so much more flattering than polyester bellbottoms or fishnet hose... Grin

Especially when they look THAT good!

there is some serious drooling going on at this end - that bustle is gorgeous and your costume combos make me happy and excited!  Cheesy I would so adore to be a steampunk pirate!
