So...this is probably an incredibly dumb question. It makes sense that they WOULDN'T be, but I was cleaning out the cabinets of anything "non-vegetarian" and came across some Beef Bouillon cubes. There's not any animal ingredient directly listed, but I don't know how to tell otherwise. I've done google searches on a couple of the ingredients and come up with nothing. Any of you guys know?

Here's a list of ingredients:

Salt, hydrolyzed soy protein, sugar, corn syrup solids, natural flavors, monosodium glutamate, onion powder, caramel color, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, spices, silicon dioxide, garlic powder

I've got a bunch of ramen packets in the cabinet that are chicken flavor. It'd be nice to not use the packets and use a bouillon cube instead, but I can't find vegetable cubes anywhere.

Thanks so much and you guys are AWESOME!!

It looks like they are fine

I know McCormick's (and other brands) make vegetarian Bouillon that come in Beef, Chicken, and Vegetable flavours.  If there is animal product it is typically animal fat or solids, so that's what to look out for.

....except for the whole "natural flavours" part....which could really go either way in terms of plant or animal sourced. Generally I would just take the gamble with natural flavourings, but for something that is meant to taste like beef I would probably call the company to find out what exactly their natural flavouring is.

i found a french onion bouillon that is great in with ramen, and is all natural with no animal products. its packed right now though because were moving, and i dont remember the brand

i love personal swaps. i'm looking to swap my art or paper crafts for some re-usable fabric snack bags, fabric sandwich wraps, fabric paper towels, glass pendants, ephemera, or art books.

Call or email the company that makes the cubes and ask what the natural flavors are. Otherwise you can't know if they're vegetarian or not.
