I made this shrine for fabricfriend in the Mexican Kitsch swap. It was my first time making a shrine, but I'm REALLY pleased with how it came out. I used a wooden Lowes first aid box and ripped the dividers out. The whole outside is covered in the red/blue brocade paper with a small gold cross on the front.

When it opens, this is what you see:

I use a coordinating water-looking paper for the base and added little fish, because the story is that Saint Anthony went to preach to the people, but they wouldn't listen, so he went to the water and preached to the fish. When the fish flocked around the shore to listen, the people decided they should as well.

I used the polka-dot paper as a backdrop inside and added a great picture of Saint Anthony. I used a couple metallic stars for sparkle. Then I made 3-D looking flowers to stand in front of the picture. Of course they're the sacred flowers of the Saint. Smiley

I was surprised at how long this project took... but it was worth it. fabricfriend loved it and I got to make something I've never made before. I foresee many more shrines in my future!

Comments and constructive criticism are always welcome. Smiley

That's funny, I made my first shrine for the Alice in Craftster swap this March.  I know what you mean about how much time it takes!  I love your paper choices and the flowers are exquisite.

Good Work!

I love it, and it is very inspiring!  I am thinking of making a shrine for a swap.......and one for me of course.   Grin
