Hi all,
I'm having trouble capturing a particular color on an item with my digital camera. The shell is purple and yellow, but I can't get it. I've tried multiple color backgrounds, flash, no flash, indoors, outdoors, macro, standard... every combination of variables I can think of. Is there something I'm missing? No matter what I do it looks brown. Help!

Have you tried lighting it from the back?

Have a beautiful day!

Back lighting, eh? I'll have to try that on some shiny fabric that keeps coming out blue instead of green. I can't make that green no matter what I do, even photoshop can't fix it for me.

It actually looks purple to me.  It's a bit subdued, but it's still purple.  Have you tried a gel on your lens?  Maybe a red or pink gel would help.

I haven't tried backlighting... I'll have to give it a go with every camera setting known to man, and see how it comes out! Otherwise I'm thinking the purple ones may just have to be reserved for in-person sale events. The color is just so gorgeous, and I feel like I have to put the old "photo doesn't do it justice" in the description and I don't want to do that. I also haven't tried photoshopping either.... I suppose doing that is OK if I can get it to look more like it does in person. I'll give that a shot too. Thanks everyone!
