This 50's style Day of the Dead waitress is made of paper mache'.   I made her form with a wire armature.  The body was then covered in paper mache' strips.  The head was made out of wadded up newspaper and then covered in paper mache' strips.  The final layer is a paper clay.  She was then sanded and painted with acrylics.

This is really funny to me. My coworkers and I are always joking about eating death for dinner. We like to order food together because sometimes it's hard to get away, but it always takes forever to decide what we're going to eat since so many of us are picky or have dietary restrictions. One day, one of my colleagues decided to be a smart allic when I asked him what we were going to eat. He just said, "Death" and so I responded, "Are we having hot death, or cold death? Narrow it down for me."

So...why aren't there more of these? I mean I would love these in my kitchen in my room....etc.
I think you should expand on the 50's style waitress and also take an old lamp and try and incorporate it in there!!! like one of those mermaids they used to have on boats coming out of the boat a part of the boat.

I love this
sell me one!

So clever - you've given me at least a dozen ideas!

This is awesome!!  I love the combo of Day of the Dead and the 50's!  I'm just seeing sooo many 50's/60's characters with Day of the Dead skulls!  James Dean...50's cheerleader...Marilyn Monroe

Awesome idea!

It's a moat.  Filled with badgers.

I love this, it's so decorative. It looks great and is such a fun idea.
