I just got my very first spinning wheel!- 2 years ago= but I tried to stain it myself- and for some reason I thought that staining it hot pink would be cool- but I wasn't.  So it laid in the closet, un-assembled for some time.  And then my dad came to the rescue and stained it a darker, deep red.

in the sun

it's an ashford traveler that my mom got for me in exchange for an article she wrote for "The Wheel"

Closer to the true color

Then I spun my first yarn on my new wheel!

I'm so excited to start this new obession.

what do you all think of my funky wheel?

I really like the indoor color of the wheel.  Your yarn is impressive for a first handspun, as well!  You even ventured into plying!!  Nice job Smiley

Love, love, love it!!!

I have a soft spot for the Traveller wheel since it was my first wheel.  It is a very versitile wheel and if hadn't had the need to get a folding wheel it would still be my one true love.

I have a Kromski Sonata that I spin all my singles on and use my Traveller with the Jumbo flyer/bobbin for all my plying.

Your first handspun certainly doesn't look anything like my first handspuns!!!  (which were all lumpy bumpy over and under twisted!)  Great job!

Ah, good ol dad to come to the rescue. It looks gorgeous now  Smiley
Lovely spinning too for a beginner.
If this how skilled your spinning starts, I can't imagine where it will end.

I have a traveller too, and thought about staining it a funky color, but at the last minute decided against it. It looks great red!  Your yarn is wonderful and squishy looking!

I also thought about staining my Traveller a wacky color, but we decided that it really was beautiful as is, so we just gave it a clear coat.

Yours looks so cool!  I'm glad you've got it up and running now!

Step off, I'm doin the hump.
