Well I have been on a huge sewing kick lately (seriously, my sewing moods NEVER last this long, but it's been about a week!) so I went to Hobby Lobby with no plan in mind, I just needed a project. I bought this intense blue poly twill fabric. As soon as I saw it, I had this great idea for a new spring tote/purse with little lace trimmed pockets and a cute print for the lining.
My 1 year old puppy had surgery a couple of days ago on his head for a "suspicious looking lump" and so the first day we had him home (yesterday) I gave him the pain medicine and it turns out that it made him have to go out every hour so I was up last night pretty much the whole night, sewing and watching FRIENDS. Why is it that I do my best sewing at night or in the early hours of the morning? Haha, I watched like... 5 episodes of the show while sewing.
Today, I made the matching accessories which include a camera case and a sunglasses case (since I was needing both of those.)
I am in LOVE with this bag!

I present to you, the blue tote!

I really love the lining.

What do ya think?

awesome bag! How much does it hold. I personally like bags with a bottom, I find that they hold more.

And you've got to love C.S. Lewis!

I find that crafts are very good time wasters. If they aren't for you, then you are one of those rare individuals who know what you're doing!

Thanks everyone! I always get really excited when I get nice comments! Ha ha, after I post, I usually check craftster a lot to see if I've gotten any comments.  Roll Eyes
I am so happy with this bag, I usually don't get so excited about bags that I make, but this one is just so fresh and new to me!

It holds quite a lot! I just didn't feel like loading it down when I took the pictures. But it will hold a couple of spiral notebooks, a pocket for my zune, my wallet, a Q-tip container, lip gloss, a reading book and other small items. Without the notebooks, it will hold a 3 ring binder (although I admit it's a tight fit). But I usually just carry the essentials (wallet, zune etc) and if I'm going to be gone overnight, I use these types of bags to hold an extra shirt too! I am really pleased with the size.
And ditto on the bottom bag thing, I usually make my bags with a flat bottom (um, a little weird to say...) but when I imagined this bag at Hobby Lobby, I thought I might just make this one nice and simple.

Yes, I love C.S. Lewis!

Oooh I like it!  adorable lining, and the lace is a nice touch.  you've inspired me, maybe I'll make a bag next.  I've been on a 2-week long sewing kick, and I know what you mean about working better late at night - I stayed up til 3 am a couple days ago working on a dress and listening to a John Grisham audio book.  Once I finish cutting out my pattern pieces and get going, it's kind of addicting - I can't stop!
