:oThat is so Beautiful!  I'm so sorry about your hair.  I had hair almost to my waist when I got back from my deployment and went in to get it trimmed.  I told the stylist how much I wanted it long, she's like "it's only hair" (should have been my cue to leave)  She took off like 6 inches, then I had to go see someone else cause it was so uneven.

None the less, I still adore your hat, I really hope you make a pattern.

I can make that...

Luckily, no one questioned my excessive hat wearing

I deny there's any such thing as excessive hat wearing. (Well, not for women, anyway.) Your hat is charming. The color is great and the close-up of those subtle shamrocks has a kind of mossy look that I like.

First of all I love this hat! So cute and I agree with cheera a good hairdresser will fix your hair but a GREAT hairdresser will understand and not make fun of you or bring unwanted attention to you.
I wish I had had that hat Last spring. I went to have my Sister in law perm my hair while she was in beauty school and her instructor gave her the wrong perm and didnt check in till the end when she promptly told her to rinse my hair NOW. Needless to say there was no curl and my hair was so gummy I couldnt get a brush through it. My hair was to my waist and a friend had to cut it to my shoulders and I am still growing out the nasty ends. My Sister in law feels terrible to this day cause I loved my long hair. But I guess that was a lesson to me to not be so vain. But I did cry.

So I am sure your hair can be fixed and I am sure it doesnt look as bad as you think it does. But enjoy the hat it is great and I cant wait for the pattern.

So many ideas so little time. Will I ever get them all done?

I hate bad haircuts, but it worked out well on your part, you got an awesome hat out of the ordeal!  I love the shamrocks, I didn't notice them at first, but I bet they stand out a lot more in person.  If you ever remake this hat you should do the shamrocks in black!

The hat is super cute. I was just trimming my bangs (which i do all the time- never had a problem) and my cat decided to lunge at my arm at a bad time. I ended up with a huge chunk of bangs missing and having to cute them super short to even them out. Funny thing is I kinda like it and might keep them this way but I think I want my hairlady to make them look a little better.

This is such an awesome hat; I am hoping my wee Scotch-Irish tushie off that a pattern may be coming? *squee*
