I just finished this preemie bereavement gown.  It is 12" long and so soft and pretty. It is going to be donated along with all of the preemie hats that I am making this year.

Here are two pictures of the progress on it:

And then completed:

It is all crocheted in one piece, so there are no seams to sew up.  I worked on it on and off for 2 days.  I used this pattern:

Come check out my preemie hat thread in the charity forum, and maybe join in!

I think this is absolutely beautiful.  I also think people may have been thrown by the description -- yes, it's a burial gown.  Many preemie charity projects produce caps and clothes, but the truth is it often becomes a first and last article of clothing for the baby.  (i was born a preemie - 3 mos early - and was the only one to survive out of my 8-baby NICU unit.)

Will check out the hat patterns, would very much like to contribute to my local hospitals.  Yay, march of dimes!

No idea what prompted you, smrfchic, to pick up this project but it's beautiful and will hopefully bring a little comfort to the family.
I want to make things - I want to get better! I must have patience with myself!

I think it is beautiful.  I think doing that for the poor parents is a wonderful thing.  Keep up the good work.  babies are so precious and no more than those born early.
