I really love working with fabric, but my supplies are very limited. I have plenty of pink things for another swap but many of my partners listed pink as something they don't like. At least one will be a stuffed bird, but I have found some quite awesome paper around. Once I get my hands on some glue (don't underestimate how hard it is to find glue that isn't that awful water stuff that wrinkles paper...) I might give papercraft birdies a go.

I found some funky little wood birdy cutouts at Michael's that I'm going to try out. But when I once a project, I rarely end up where I think I will.

After making my prototype and loving how it turned out, I've decided to go a different route for the rest of the birds. LOL  Last night I did a TON of cutting and started sewing. YAY! Smiley

One prototype completed and now making notes on tweaking the others to fit each recipient's likes and such. I would like to keep with the "sweat shoppe style" theme, but personalize each one in some way(s). Havin' fun with it so far though. This is way more fun than doing my income taxes. Pretty certain I'll have to file for an extension as I obsess over this proctrastination project. Smiley

I'm glad to read that some people aren't using fabric. I was toying with the idea of another medium as well Smiley Not sure yet though.

I crafted one of my birds today down by the river with some old ladies. They sit about sewing then stand up and do tai chi every so often. It was quite enjoyable. They also helped me craft, contributing to the bird. It's not 100% how I would have made it, but it is an interesting story and I hope its new owner (rainbow_storms) appreciates the hand some very old Chinese women had in making her bird!

I decided it was time to pack up and go when two naked men arrived to bathe in the river and slap their bellies.  Shocked

I was PMing this to Jeane and figured I had to share this bizarre craft story.
