First of all- on the subject of US/Canada shipping... I've discovered that if I'm shipping something medium+ sized to Canada it's actually cheaper for me to drive to Canada and mail from there. It's only about an hour to the border... Still not sure it's worth the time...

And finally- my last Dotee from Pearsonchick.

The charm on her says "She is too fond of books and it addled her brains." (one of my favorites).

I want to know where my human-sized version of that shawl is!!!   Cheesy

And don't you just love the reading glasses?!?!

The "tail" has a tiny book hanging off it, which is based on an actual book in my library. Pearsonchick did some good digging to make something so perfectly me.

Here's a picture of her back, which shows her hair and all the cute bookish things Pearsonchick wrote on the back.

My big problem with this Dotee is that I don't know where to hang her!!! Do I keep her in my craft area with my other Dotees, or do I hang her from a bookshelf in my library?  lolol

Thanks, Pearsonchick. I love her. Smiley

How did you pack your dotees, what size and type of envelope did you use?

I bought the bubble wrap lined envelopes at the post office that were made to send CDs in. The whole thing with envelopes and shipping cost $12. (About $2 per envelope and $2 to ship.)

I participated in Dotee rounds 1 & 2.
I was one of 2 Canadians (the other was the lovely craftydame).
After getting BADLY bruised by a $40+ postage cost, I was reluctant to join round 2.
I noticed that most US swappers had paid less than $2 to mail each dotee.
Craftydame and I both live in border cities, so for round 2 we mailed our packages from the US and paid a total of approx $11 including DC#s to mail our dotees (we had 6 partners).
I think the idea of sending unstuffed dotees is fantastic.  It would be hard to keep them under 1cm to pass through the regular lettermail slot, but easy to keep them under 2 cm for the oversize lettermail slot.  The cost to mail each dotee would then be approx $2 which is reasonable (round 1 was $6 to mail from can to us, $11 to mail from ON to BC!!!).
I would love to join another dotee swap.

Look here...see who came in the mail from Pearsonchick!

It was twenty years ago today,
Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play

They've been going in and out of style
But they're guaranteed to raise a smile.

So may I introduce to you
The act you've known for all these years,
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Thanks to Lennon and McCartney for the lyrics and here's to Pearsonchick for an awesome dotee!

Sorry so late (I've been out of town), but here is my last dotee from Ma Rut (who took a much better pic of it) in its new home!

Such nice stitchwork. I love it, Ma Rut-- thank you so much!

Ma Rut, I absolutely loved the dotee you sent me. She goes perfectly with my native american collection.
Here she is visiting with an elder.

Here she is enjoying the wild life.

Thank you so much. I had so much fun I can't wait until the next dotee swap. I'm just sorry it took me so long to post. I am still dealing with computer issues.
