here's a quick dress i made yesterday... no pattern, just draping on the dress form. i'm going to take it apart and make a paper pattern after i make some adjustments. the entire dress was made in about three hours, so it's a little rough but i wanted to get an idea of what people like and/or don't like about it (keeping in mind that this is a very preliminary design). your feedback is greatly appreciated!

The shape looks nice, but I think I'd be able to give more feedback if I saw it on the dress form Smiley

I like the basic idea:  serious fabric on a flirty design.  Very cool. I love the pocket details and the way you varied the directions of the pin stripes. I also like the length.  I am a little concern about the height of the back, if you are making it for a design and not just for yourself.  I have slightly large shoulders and I have a feeling the back may be squishy up the back of my neck.  Of course, I also don't have much of a neck, so it may actually squishy up my head.  Grin  Also, with it that high, the large buttons, and the subtle angle of the straps it has an aprony/smock-like look to me.  If you're making it for yourself and you used subtler buttons, I think it would look awesome.

love the pockets!  It looks like a 1950's play suit to me, but in skirt form. I like it

It is cute and I also love the pockets, but I do not like the placement of the pockets over pleats.

ah very cute Smiley Love the shape and the length, but like KCMonkey said, I'm a little concerned about how high the back is - my dresses are usually pretty low in the back - but also I think all my shirts without a hood end up at least an inch or two lower in the middle of the back. But I think if the fabric is really soft and somewhat stretchy, it wouldn't be too much a problem.
