I originally saw this on Dollar Store Crafts, who linked Chezlin, who got the idea from here: http://www.designboom.com/shop/cassettewallet.html apparently. I've made three of them, and this is the least-sucky. I used e6000 on my first two. Besides giving me a headache, it leaves messy splotches of dried glue all over my tape and got into my zipper so it wouldn't zip anymore. I'm also having a hard time getting the zippers to match up. I used hot glue on this one, and even though its still not symmetrical, I'm going to use it for awhile to see how well the glue holds. I eventually want to make one for my teenage sister, but not until I have enough practice to make a nice one.
I used a 9 inch zipper and black felt on the inside. I love this tape, so I hope if the wallet falls apart I can reuse it. It has a bunch of kids songs on it like "This Old Man" and "Do Your Ears Hang Low." Maybe I should coat the outside with something so the words don't rub off.

I don't know how to take non-blurry pictures, apparently. My apologies.

first, nice job on the wallet! second, when you want to take in-focus pictures of objects close up, use macro mode. (often indicated by a flower icon)

I can't wait to make one of these! What a great idea to use your old tapes...

It's easiest if you have a tape that is held together by screws. You unscrew them, and then break off the pointy pieces with pliers. I think I used wire cutters. If your tape is glued together, you can use a screwdriver to pry the halves apart, but it takes a little more patience that way and there is more of a chance that your tape will crack.

I followed this tutorial, but I had bad luck with e6000, so I switched to hot glue. It was still pretty difficult to match up the sides of the zipper. Best of luck!
