Literally the day after I started on the skirts (which I thought was an original idea), I saw this tutorial http://sewing.craftgossip.com/tutorial-cinched-and-layered-skirt-for-little-girls/2010/10/24/ over on craftgossip. Although my construction was a little different, it's basically the same idea...

So I finished the skirts up last night and did the pumpkin applique on the shirts.  My first try with applique and I think it turned out great! But why did I have to try something *round* for my first try?!

In hindsight, I wish I'd used orange and brown rather than orange and black. Then I could extend the use throughout the fall. Ah well.

C/C always welcome!

What darlings!

I certainly think that the skirts are wearable throughout the winter!  With a black sweater or even a cute white shirt...

Great job on your applique as well...the little matching bow in the hair is the perfect finishing touch...adorable!

Arrrgg!  I can't tell you how many projects I've done that I know I thought up on my own then see something so similar.  You think "great" now I look like the copy-cat!  It's true great minds think alike no matter how frustrating it gets!!!  I love YOUR idea for a cute little skirt!

If you can't do it with duck tape...it can't be done!

I'm pretty sure that happens to all of us at one point or another.  It's been happening to me for at least 10 years.  But!  I think all ideas are floating around to be caught  by someone, and the can be caught by multiple people.  So technically it was your original idea.  you came up with it with no inspiration. you caught that idea.  And you brought it to life.  And your Daughters are SUPER CUTE in those outfits! Well done Momma!
