We got all the seed packets on sale for about 5 cents a piece.  I loved the decorative packaging.  We just stuck our name and a thank you on there, and attached a piece of paper to the back with instructions for our Flickr account.  (Since we didn't have a photographer, we asked our friends and family to contribute with their digital pics.)  The seeds went really well with our wedding, since the flowers were all random and wildflowers. Also, we got some personal significance in there too: Forget-me-nots are the state flower of Alaska, where my husband is from, and throughout my childhood we always were overwhelmed with bachelor buttons in our front yard.

That is ADORABLE! I agree that seed packets  are already beautiful and you really don't need to dress them up

I like the idea of giving flower/plant seeds out for a wedding favor. I haven't made up my mind on what wedding favors I want to give out but I really like this. Especially for a spring wedding.  Smiley

Those are so simple and yet so sweet and special.
I like them a lot and what a great bargain!  Did you get them at the end of summer??

I actually got them in the spring, all from Walgreens.  One week they had a coupon for 20 for a dollar.  So my mom, sister and I would go to all the Walgreens and each take a coupon!  And we got way more than we needed, mainly because at that point, I was set on growing my own flowers... They all finally grew and bloomed, about a month after the wedding!
And I toyed with the ideas of plants too, but I couldn't stand the idea of someone killing a wedding plant. (Or any plant, in general.  I love our friend, but honestly, I wouldn't trust some of them with a living thing!)

This is a great idea. If I ever get round to having my reception, I'll know what to give all my botanist friends.

What a lovely way to celebrate your wedding. I agree that the packets were charming. And your friends get to brighten up their own gardens and think of you when they see the flowers bloom. Lovely.

That is a great idea. I had wanted to give away a small potted plant but I may go this way instead! Thanks for sharing.
