Cheebz-- I loved everything, thank you! I've already worn the top several times, it's super flattering and the perfect color. Hope everything fits well and suits your style. Thanks for being a great swap partner (and patient!).

Everything in the gallery is amazing! So glad I joined.

Thanks for posting the photos, Lacibug. I love everything and can't wait to post photos of my own. Unfortunately I lost the cord to my camera and have to go to walgreens and burn a cd of all my photos now.  Tongue Expect that to happen in the next few days.

Lol I just realized I was totally wearing the top wrong! Oh well, I love it both ways and the belt is nothing short of amazing!

My angel package has arrived and it's beyond marvelous!

So ptarmic wumpus gets 10 gold stars for design and craftsmanship. I'm in awe! She made me a gauberdine jacket with meticulous seams and piping. It's lightweight denim with silk bias accents. It's perfect for the summer! She also made the hat out of Harris Tweed. I've hyped myself too much that I ran out of things to say about this awesome package. So here are more pictures!

Thanks again, Nikki! Smiley

By the way, I believe she has a picture of the pattern she based the jacket off of. So she might post a picture of that. And I hope you guys don't mind that I hyperlinked this thread to a recent post I made. More people needs to compliment this talented lady!

Glad you enjoyed it, iggy.boy! The bias strips were cut from old neckties, finally found a use for them (I bought a big bag of silk neckties from the thrift store a while ago). The jacket pattern was from a March 1984 issue of Burda, the original was in gabardine (and a few sizes too small in the "teen" category but with massive ease). Here is the magazine page, it is the middle of the photo, and the one in the small lower right corner:

The instructions were in French so I just made it up, at least I was able to figure out which pieces to trace. If you've never seen an old-school Burda magazine pattern, they used to be one-size only and the pattern sheets had all the pieces drawn on top of each other, like this:

Okay - I'm not in this swap but .. Wow ptarmic wumpus! That is amazing!! I am not only in awe of your mad sewing skills but also your awesome tracking skills! How did you ever manage to trace from that pattern sheet!? Just looking at it is giving me a headache! Absolutely terrific job! iggy.boy sure is one lucky person!

Will trade for Winter 2008 issue of Stitch Magazine aka The One With The Skirts Grin

Check out my wists!
