I was trying to figure out a gift to make for my D&D obsessed friend and wasn't having much luck finding something I wanted to make.  So I make my first excursion into making my own pattern and came up with this cute wittle beholder.  I had made enough amigurumis to make the basic ball and adapt it.  This was the result:

Another image showing all six eyestalks of the more common gauth beholder is here

When I gave it to my friend he started playing with it and placing it on his shoulder.  Watching him inspired me to make him a matching Momma Beholder Hat.  He plans to wear both to GenCon in a wizard costume. Mr. Balloon models below.  The lowest tentacles are made to look like they are pulling your head into its mouth.

Thanks.  I'm starting to have a lot of fun with these. Right now I'm working on the aliens from the Simpsons hat and after that I've got people begging me to make a Cthulhu hat.

Very creative!  I'm not sure what a beholder really is (I'll google it later), but I love the multitude of eyes!  Can't wait to see your up and coming hats as well!  Grin
