It started out as a Cthulu...and rapidly fell into decline because this was one of my very first amigurumi projects. It's head was horribly lumpy, so I decided to cover it with a hood...heh. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with my triple crochets, so I gave up on the wings...and now you see a mindflayer. Patterns for head, body, and hood are from the Creepy Cute crochet book. I made the poor cloak and collar on the fly (they're horrific!! if you ask me), and added another face tentacle to make it more mindflayer-esque. I've only been crocheting for about a month...Poor mindflayer.

I have no idea what a mindflayer OR a Cthulu is, but I think he's adorable either way.

Lol.  My current D&D character is a Githyanki, and Githyanki have a racial hatred for mindflayers.  But I must say, this one is terribly cute.  Just watch that he doesn't lull you into a false sense of security and then pounce and suck your brain out  Cheesy

Next year I'll have room for a sewing machine in my SINGLE ROOM, but this year I share, so I don't.  So all I can do now is wish and plan.  And maybe use my connections to the theatre costume workshop... Cheesy

I have tried to make the same Cthulhu a couple of times now (my wings always come out wonky too) and I have been crocheting for the better part of two years.  With that said, I think your mindflayer looks FREAKING AMAZING!  Don't beat yourself up!  It rawks!

Mindflayer! I love it! Sometimes a project not coming out how you want leads to making something unique and wonderful, so don't kick yourself, it's awesome!  Grin

That is SOOO cute.  Gotta love turning evil creatures into cute ones. I'm going to have to make one now.
