I've been wanting a dress like this from Alveskogen for a while, but what do you do when the budget won't stretch to the original? Well you buy a cheap fleece blanket and quickly draft a pattern from an old top and a skirt - wing it in other words - and then you sew. And THEN, once you know the pattern works and fits... you order proper non-pilling fleece to make a couple more.

So, yes, this is a test. I am quite happy with how it turned out, and though it will be nicer to have one (or two) made from good quality fleece, I will probably still wear this one until the pilling gets unbearable. I wore it on Saturday until DS decided to wee on me. Potty training at it's finest...

Wow, that's a cool dress, congratulations. I never thought of a dress from fleece, but it looks great and this is certainly the season for it.
Good luck with the potty training Smiley

That looks really comfy and also stylish (something that's often hard to achieve). I specially like the green stitching. You've inspired me to get back to work on my sweatshirt-fleece dress.

Nice job drafting, it looks like it fits you perfectly. The contrast trim and the hood are nice touches.

Stop being so damned positive. Staring at the sun only blinds some one. By only looking at the positive, you miss an entire beautiful world of shadows and colors. Don't be overly negative, be realistic. The world is so much more complex and beautiful that way.

Great! I live in Alaska, and am pregnant, so most dresses are out of the question for like 9 months every year.  But fleece....that's a whole nother story!  I could rock this with my sealskin boots and have one hell of a nordic style outfit.  Thanks!
