I can only knit 40 foot scarves in a basic stitch. I can however crochet. Now i can combine both and *really* go to town in an amazing way--has anyone seen this site? Does anyone work with way? I just thought it was totally awesome and if it's a repost, so be it, but check out this site, has a wonderful array of links too  http://www.eject.com.au/e-motive/prudence/menu.htm

When saw this site for the first time, it made me really want to learn to crochet. I still haven't learned enough that I don't forget it entirely and have to re-learn, though.

Thanks for reminding me why I wanted to learn in the first place!

Jan Messant also has a couple of books on freeform and the use of knitting and crocheting together, and are easier to find in northamerica.  I've ordered prudence's book but it hasn't arrived yet....a basic knowledge of knitting ie knit and purl is all you need to get some really cool effects playing with guage and direction. Try it! xoxoxo
