This cardi is so popular among French knitters, I've been drooling over it, going from blog to blog without being able to get my hands on the pattern (you have to purchase a book, which is only available in this famous French yarn store called "La Droguerie")

So... my only option was to reverse-engineer it from pics and tidbits of info I got from reading people's modifications etc...

I think it's pretty sweet... The buttons are covered with liberty fabric and the yarn is mohair.

this is gorgeous. and good for you for being able to work it through backwards without a pattern! looks authentic enough to me.
