Swap name: February 2009 Birthday Swap
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: kayrun

FOR POSTING BIRTHDAY LISTS Sign-up date range:  February 3 - February 28
FOR CHOOSING A BIRTHDAY WISH TO FULFILL Sign-up date range:  February 3 - February 28
DATE TO SEND ITEMS BY:  2 weeks after you claim someone unless other arrangements are made ahead of time

Limited to a certain number of people?: No.
Restricted to people who all live in the same country? No.
You must be 13 years old to swap.

Swap Organizer himself/herself meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: YES
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: YES
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES
- Will recruit a co-organizer or give all details to a Swap Moderator if this swap has more than 25 participants: YES

Swap Organizer will check each participant to make sure they meet these conditions:
- Has been a member for at least one month: YES
- Has posted at least 15 times: YES
- Has completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time: YES
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps: YES
- Does not have any negative feedback: YES
- Participant has agreed that he/she is at least 13 years old: YES
- Participant lives in the United States: YES/NO
   - If yes, understands that Delivery Confirmation number is required for this swap: YES
   - If no, understands that a mailing receipt copy is required for this swap: YES

Details of swap:  This swap was organized so everyone can get something crafty for their birthday!  Please read the guidelines carefully.

1. This swap is list style, like the Ongoing Wishlist Swap, however it is NOT chain style. You can choose any birthday craftsters list that is posted, rather than only picking the last one.

2. This is a medium item swap. A medium item is defined as a craft or recon etc that takes you two hours to complete OR $20 worth of Store Bought Items. (If bought from a thrift store, estimate at what it would have cost new.) However you may also substitute a few small items for a medium.

3. If your birthday is in February, you can post your birthday wish list for this month. To do that, you must first PM me with the Swap questionnaire filled out and wait for approval.

4. Once you have been approved, you may post your list of things that you would like to receive. This is the format for your lists: First post your location and a short bio of yourself, then a list of crafted items you would like, then craft supplies (if any) and lastly you can put a few extras that arent crafted, things like candy or tea. Remember, the more items on your list, the more likely you are to be chosen. The minimum of items to post is five.  Also including your wists is a good way for people to get the idea of your likes and style.  If you have any allergies please type them in red in your bio section.

5. Please post lists only in this thread. Discussion can be done here in the combined discussion/gallery thread:

 6. Every birthday participant must make at least one claim. You may have up to two claims at a time, and then you can claim again once your items are received (not when you mail out). New swappers may only have one outstanding claim, they may claim again after their first claim is received. Claims need to be made from the "crafted" and "craft supplies" sections of a person's list. The "extras" are just that--extra items you may want to throw in if you are feeling generous, but claims cannot be solely extras. Keep it crafty :-)

7. You may get claimed more than once, but your minimum amount to claim is one.  It is possible you may not get claimed at all. In this case you will not be provided a swap angel; angels are only if you get flaked on. However I do my best to make sure everyone gets claimed by keeping track of how many times each person is claimed. If possible try to pick someone who has been claimed 0 times versus someone who has been claimed 3 times.

8. If it is not your birthday but you would like to send a birthday present out you may do so.  Fill out the non-birthday swapper questionnaire and send it to me for approval.  Birthday swappers who receive a present from a non-birthday swapper must send a snail mail birthday card.  You will not receive feedback until I hear from the other swapper that they have received a thank you card.

 9. When you choose to fulfill a birthday wish, PM both me (kayrun) AND the chosen Craftster.  At that time, please request the address for where to send it.  After that you have 2 weeks to get the item out the door.

 10. It is super important for everyone to keep good communication.  It is REQUIRED that you PM me when you've sent and of course, don't forget the DC#.  It is REQUIRED that when you receive, you PM me and publicly announce in the gallery (even if you don't have pictures).  If I do not receive PMs from you when you send and receive, you will be left Poor Communication in your feedback.

11. When one of your items is chosen, please cross it out so that it is easier for others to see what has been chosen.
It wouldn't hurt to thank the person at this time either.

12. If you are sending late you must PM me by your send-out date.  If your send-out date comes and goes and you dont PM me, you will receive poor communication feedback.  It should not be my job to hunt you down and find out what is going on.

Please make sure to put February Bday Swap or something equivalent in the subject line on all communications.  The most important thing to me is communication.  Please PM me when you send and receive, and please reply to my PM's to you in a timely manner.  Also PM me with the date of send-out, (two weeks after your claim) that I will have listed, to make it easier for me to update things.

Woot!  I get to be first to say happy birthday to all of us!!!

I'm Rebecca, and I live in beautiful Austin, TX, the live music capital of the world.  I work as a traveling library preservation consultant.  I'm blissfully single, but I'm close to my two nephews and one niece.  And I have two cats, because having cats is part of the deal if you're a single librarian.  And I just bought a smart car (that's her picture as my avatar) who is the love of my life.  As far as pop culture references, I'm utterly addicted to Lost, love Flight of the Conchords, and still think the Partridge Family is amazingly good music.  I'm also obsessed with Elvis Presley (although Costello is pretty good too).

My favorite colors are turquoise and lime green.  In general, I like bright colors like hot pink, orange, bright yellow.  Nothing subtle about me.  No beige, brown or pastels, please!  I tend to prefer functional over decorative, and have a definite retro kitsch sensibility.  I sew, embroider, knit, crochet, bind books (I'm actually trained in rare book conservation), and have just started quilting.  I love to learn new crafts, and will gladly take instruction in almost anything.  I don't really wear jewelry or scarves, but I make up for it with my love of shoes.

I don't have any major allergies.

Here's the list:

A surprise!!!  What do you love to make?  (One is coming, thanks to Miss_Kassandra, but you can never have too many surprises!)

A fun sewn purse.

A clutch/wallet with an attached key ring

Reusable shopping bags (lots of reusable shopping bags)

Art for my walls with retro themes (contributions to my giant wall of Elvis are always welcome)

Aprons, pot holders, kitchen accessories of any flavor.

Anything smart car related

A tote bag with lots of outside pockets for when I'm on site.  If anyone is feeling generous and wants to do this, I'll be glad to tell you what would be really helpful in more detail.  Thanks, Lady_Frog!  You rock!!!

Needle roll for my double pointed knitting needles

Crochet hook roll for my steel crochet hooks

Hand spun yarn

Note cards or stationary

Stitch markers

1 1/2" squares of cotton fabric for a postage stamp quilt (actually, if you wanted to make a whole package of squares, I'd probably be quite thrilled)

Zippered pouches

Needle book

Cute pincushion

A learn to do origami kit

Jar of whimsies

Fabric!  Even scraps are great, as I'm trying to amass stuff for a postage stamp quilt.  Preferably cotton and preferably fun prints.  Yardage is wonderful too, especially in pink or purple princess-y stuff (I sew a lot for my 4 year old niece).

Tea towels to embroider.

Sock yarn

Size 10 or 20 crochet thread

Quilters tools, like acrylic triangles

Yo-yo makers, especially in smaller sizes

Embroidery floss (can you ever really have enough) - especially in metallic or other special finishes

Fun buttons

Fun trim-- ball fringe, rick rack, funky ribbon

No food, please, as I have *no* self-control!!!

Cool refrigerator magnets (I guess those could also be crafted!)

Anything Elvis or smart car related

Surprise me!

Thanks so much for reading my list!  Happy birthday to us all!!!

Happy Birthday to all!

I'm Nven (aka Kim) and on Feb 23rd I'll be 30.  I live in Montreal QC Canada with my husband and 3 monsters, er cats not kids.  I'm a former art & film student, temporary corporate zombie, and sometime photographer. Favourite themes include steam-punk, art deco, art nouveau, sci-fi & fantasy, nature and urban modern. Favourite colours are blue, black, red, brown and grey.  I'm not a fan of floral prints, hearts, rainbows and bows, or pink, bright orange and yellow. Godzilla and Gir are my monsters of choice.  I'm a knitter/crocheter but I like to play with sewing and embroidery.  I'm a bit of a gamer geek thanks to my husband, with a little urban bohemian hippy (unless you see me in my workcloths).   I don't wear a lot of jewelry (I have to take it off for karate class and often forget to put it back on) and whenever possible go barefoot.

Happy birthday to everyone!
I'm Kirsten, I turned 21 today (2/4)!!!(and craftster put a little cake in my profile)  I'm from Illinois and am currently studying foreign language (mostly German and Spanish), and hope to finish up my schooling in the next 1.5 years.  I live with a roommate in an apartment (off campus, none of those crowded dorms).  I have a boyfriend (who is basically my chauffeur) and my other form of transportation is my lovely bike (which I really love).  I really like almost all crafts, I guess you could say I'm a jack of all trades, not an expert at any one particular craft.  I especially like scrapbooking, sewing, and beading.  The one thing that failed me miserably was knitting, I tried so hard but I just can't do it.  I love things which have a reference to Germany or Mexico or either language, because I lived in both of those countries.

My favorite colors are red and green (but not together).  My bedroom has a pink and lime green theme, so those colors together are another favorite of mine.  I love sock monkeys, mostly the traditional red heel, but I enjoy the occasional funky one once in awhile.  I also really like making jewelry and I like to have it too, but truthfully I seldom wear it.  I love cooking and baking, and spend a lot of time in the kitchen. I really like rubber duckies, I have a huge collection of ducks as well as thing with ducks on them.  I don't have a wist or anything similar, but stalking can be done at my fotolog http://www.fotolog.com/kirstywoo88

My list:

Apron- any design related to my interests or just pretty in general.  My sister got this cool apron that had a V neck like a halter top, and I love it, but other designs are good too.  Thanks elvissatx!!

laptop sleeve- For my HUGE laptop (it gets cold sometimes in the winter too Sad  )

Amigurumi duck- I know I will never possess the skills to make one, but I would love to have one.

Tea chest, I saw one once that the top could detach from and become a tray, can't find it right now though

Bike seat rain cover (like waterproof fabric with elastic so that my bum doesn't get wet in the rain)

A Surprise!! (I love surprises)

Resin jewelry making supplies

Ceramic pens

Beads, and or jewelry making supplies...but no plastic bead please

Black pearler beads

Scrapbooking supplies

Yummy chocolates (I too have no self control but I love chocolate sooooo much)

A unique rubber duck

Bautzener Senf (I think you can only send me this if you live in Germany, but I would love you forever, it is my favorite)

Any trinket or extra you want

HI All. I'm Gwen aka rowenlynn in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This b-day sees me turning 29 on the 16th. So old! I'm a illustrator, though it's not what's paying the bills. Though I did finish illustrating my 1st children's book back in October. I like dabbling in different kinds of crafts, but I mostly do paper crafts, embroidery and sewing projects like bags.

There is very little I don't like. I like all colors, and color schemes, though I do wear a lot of reds, mauves, magentas and pinks. I love illustrations. I love design. I loved that documentary about Helvetica! I'm drawn to very graphic work and patterns. Fav artists: Alphonse Mucha, Edward Dega, Claude Monet, Arther Ruckham, Aubrey Beardsley, Beatrix Potter, Georgia O'Keeffe, Mary Blair, Bruce Timm, Neil Adams, Chris Bachalo.

I am a geeky girl. I dig western comics and manga. I am somewhat in love with Superman. I love Hello Kitty. I even bought Hello Kitty sandwich bags! Much love for Katamari Damacy. Love the Powerpuff Girls! Most of my absolute favorite movies are by Hayao Miyazaki (expect the cat retuns which he didn't direct, liked that too. But not howl's moving castle; it was just too different from the book). I LOVE things that are cute.

Crafted items:
-Feathered headband
-Or another kind of cool headband
-Reversible fabric headband (see fabrics in wist listed below for example)
-Wristlet (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=19034007, http://www.patinastores.com/Products/Octopus_Wristlet_074184.cfm, http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=sr_gallery_13&listing_id=16915085, http://www.fredflare.com/customer/product.php?productid=2964&cat=353#, http://www.fredflare.com/customer/product.php?productid=2598&cat=252http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=vl_other_1&listing_id=15685866, http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=vt_related_1&listing_id=20239017)
-Bento box or sectioned tupperware decorated would be cool
-Jewelery such as:

  -chandelier earrings
  -button necklace like this(http://www.marthastewart.com/article/button-necklace-with-sophie?autonomy_kw=button%20necklace&rsc=header_1&xsc=eml_crd_2009_01_24)
-cute tote
-cute pin cushion (like this
-Soap that's shaped like stuff, prefer food shaped stuff (scent-wise, I prefer food scents like chocolate chip cookies, cinnamon buns, pumpkin pie, vanilla or any type of fruit)
 -http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/3239442793/in/[email protected]

Craft supplies:
-embroidery transfer paper
-polymer clay starter kit
-cool fabric
-graphic type patterns, a look at my wists will give you an idea ([url]http://wists.com/rowenlynn/fabric)

-Bento box

Hello out there in Craftsterland Smiley  My name is Zo and on 2/14 this year I will be 28!! YAY!!  Only a few more days to go.  I live in Cape Coral, FL with my lovely wife, Nicky, and our kitty cat Akasha.  We just bought our house in November 2007 and are really enjoying it even though cash can get short at times.  I have been crafting on and off since I was youngbeaded bracelets, cross stitch, hemp, flower head wreaths.  My mother tried to get me into sewing when I was 12, she bought me the machine I am still using now, a Singer Sonata, but I just was not interested and everything seemed VERY complicated to a kid like me!  LOL!  I have in the last year or so FINALLY gotten back into sewing and I am SOOOO addicted!!  I still do hemp jewelry, and recently have added bead jewelry to my repertoire (see my profile for my projects for the bead work I am mainly doing).  I also still do my flower head wreaths (also in my profile on my projects), and have picked up doing cross stitch again as well.  Sewing really is my big love right now, and I enjoy a little bit of sewing almost every day even if it is just a simple snap wallet!  I love owls, sea life like octopus;starfish;jellyfish;etc., butterflies, dragonflies, mod prints, hippie stuffsee my wists here for lots of great ideas on what I like or specific items that could be made.

Happy Birthday everyone! I am Amanda. On February 7th I turned 26. I live in California. I have three dogs Trick, Abba, and Penny. I also have Fro, Gopher, Puddles, and Fufu, my rabbits. Usually I sew or make nick nacks. I have just recently started learning how to knit/crochet. I love all sorts of music. Um I don't really have a favorite color, but I do love black, gray, and pink combined.

Crafted Items
A cupon book- nothing too fancy, just a little book maybe with a pocket or elastic strap inside to hold everything in and a snap or velcro to keep it closed.
Scarf, Beanie Thank you so much Hollistercobabe!
Plugs, my ears a 2g, if you wanna try your hand at making them
Photo frame- any size
Make up
Metal flowers
Hair pins

Really, it's hard for me to pick things I want crafted, what I would like is something that uses an element from the following of your own creation, be it a pillow, clay item, wind chime, underroos, hair bits, etc...
Cherry blossoms
Orange Koi

Craft Supplies
Any knit crochet thing-a-majigger
Lily bulbs
Ceramic paint (popular)

Some music you love on a CD.
A good book.
A back up of a movie you enjoy.
Flower seeds
Dog treats (nothing with mint for doggy breath, Abba will wind up with hives)
Chapstick/lip gloss

I will probably be adding to this...
