This is my latest themed Sackboy doll modeled after the comic book character Hellboy. I initially made him with a completely red body, including legs, but when I started making him some shorts to wear, I realized that the shape of the limbs would make it problematic to put clothing on him. I'd also forgotten his wee little tail!

So I took the red legs off and made a new set with black yarn at the top and red at the bottom. Then I made a bowl-shaped black piece to serve as the top of his shorts, leaving a gap so a tail could fit through. I also attached a stubby red tail to his backside. I reassembled him by putting the black bow-shaped piece over the bottom of his torso, pulling the tail through, then sewing the legs to the body through both the black and red layers.

My co-workers said he needed a cigar, so I whipped one of those out, too. Wink

His eyes are black buttons with shanks in the back covered with yellow FIMO polymer clay. I tried to find the right sort of yellow buttons at Joann's, but go figure...they didn't have any.

The fake zipper and pull are crocheted out of silver DMC embroidery thread, and the decorative stitches are also DMC floss.

My favorite part of this doll is his Right Hand of Doom. Or maybe the tail.

UPDATED Version 2 with real zipper:

Ack! I WANT a little crocheted Hellboy so bad now!! You've done such a fantastic job! I keep crooning over the little details. He's wonderful - thanks for sharing! Grin

But we have flamethrowers. And what this indicates to me, it means that at some point, some person said to himself, "Gee, I sure would like to set those people on fire over there. But I'm way too far away to get the job done. If only I had something that would throw flame on them."

Thanks for the comments! He came out better than I had expected.

HellSackBoy is currently hanging out on a co-worker's desk across the room, and I have to say that HSB is really cute from behind, too. Something about that tail, LOL.

Awesome. Totally Awesome.  My 14-year old son saw it and said, "Holy crap! Love the cigar, man!"

Great work!
