My boyfriend's parents lived in Alaska before they had children so I made this quilt for them for Christmas.  I'm not a terribly patient person, so all I did was sew 6 inch squares together.  I bought fabric online at Fabric Paradise.

I selected fabric with a fishing, bear, moose, camping, and crab theme (the family name is Crabb).  I also used this cool Alexander Henry Pin Ups at the Lodge fabric.

And finally, the backing I bought directly from Abby's Reflection Fabric Store in Sitka, Alaska titled "Alaskan Cities."

I used a woman in San Jose, CA to long arm machine quilt an all over pattern titled "bears in the woods".  Her price was $1 per inch on the short side.  She is currently working on my second quilt which I made for my own parents.

Here are my pics from the project.  I can't post them here since I'm a newbie.

I'm thinking for my next project I might work on a geometric design, something fairly simple since I'm a beginner, but also modern.  Suggestions for designs are appreciated.

Very cool!  Interesting fabrics individually, and they go together well to make a coherent whole.  Great job!

I love Alaska so I love this quilt. Worked there 3 years. Great place.

Anyone wanna help a good cause and buy a sonography class cookbook so I can go to a seminar in September? They are $15 alone, and $20 with handmade potholders. PM me!
