2008 was a wonderful year of projects for Crochet in Craftster! Here are some of last year's highlights*:

Who says granny squares are boring? Check out these fantastic fingerless gloves by SylvChezPlum:

Or Nannetta's granny square bag?

Speaking of bags, we loved alexandraf's Pop Tab Purse, complete with a handy tutorial!

cateus came up with another fantastic recycling opportunity for crochet- a tree made from plastic soda bottles!

In the vein of "reusing," SunshinsCreations turned an old blanket into a gorgeous hexagon skirt (and some other items, too!):

No one will want to take apart this beautiful daisy afghan by sonnetbird, though!

Also in the blanket department, pesky pixie wowed us with her incredible Tunisian crochet afghans. The pop-art Marilyn Monroe blanket was a particular favorite:

In the amigurumi department, wibit's creations were particularly beloved for their cuteness and cuddly fun, like this polar bear family:

And we all loved artoo1121's cult-film creations - like this jaw-dropping Fellowship of the Ring:

A lot of the fantastic amigurumi work posted here on Craftster is inspired by beloved fandoms, like JenGoPop's amazing Big Honkin' Cthulhu:

Or planetjune's brilliant rendition of Terry Pratchett's Discworld:

And BunnieBard's brilliant Bob-Omb Bags!

sprocketfish was inspired by Dungeons and Dragons to make a giant Dark Mantle (cubicle-dwellers, beware!):

Other pieces, like meekssandygirl's incredible mushroom house, are explored amigurumi's whimsical side. Check out the fantastic detail on this beautiful piece!

2008 was also an excellent year for hats on Craftster, the highlights of which were these adorable holiday pie-rets by ladylinoleum (yum!):

and the famous Faux-hawk by neosynthesis, whose wonderful tutorial spawned many fabulous renditions:

Many thanks to all of our fantastic Crafsters! There were many, many fantastic projects in 2008, so keep 'em coming in 2009!

*Projects were selected using a magical combination of "This Rocks" hits, creativity and originality, with special preference given to posts made in the spirit of Craftster (not-for-profit projects, informative posts, tutorials shared, etc.). Only one project was selected per member.

Some of these are quite awesome.  I will definetly have to come back and look at these when I have a break between other projects.   Cheesy

Thanks for showcasing these.  I can't believe that I missed some of these projects when they were posted.

I'm so glad you put these all together. What a wonderful assortment -- and so much talent. I loved them all.
