the watermelon purse i actually made a little over a year ago and have been using it allll the time. i've been wanting to continue making fruit purses, and i finally got around to making a new one!

"citrus slice" handbag
hand-crocheted with size h hook, and 100% acrylic worsted weight yarn in orange, peach, and white. and only a few hours to complete. the longest part is just sewing it together and weaving in all the ends lol.

when i saw the title of the thread under new comments, i was like "citrus purse! but i just finished a fruit purse, and i thought it was SOO original!" but these are very cool, and very different than mine, which relieves me, cause i kinda think it would be freaky if some other random person had had the exact same idea as me at the exact same time!

they really look neat! l i'd love to see a pic of it from the top, while open. you know? so that we can see how big the top opening is, how much stuff they fit, that sort of thing.

i put my wallet inside. it only holds a few things, but i usually manage to stuff my wallet, keys, and even my phone/chapstick sometimes. it gets a little lumpy, but not so much. i only use it when i need to just bring the essentials, and not my digital camera and other stuff. or i'll use it in addition to my backpack when i'm at school.

teehee! i want a strawberry purse too, but i'm not sure yet how i'd make the shape, lol. i'll figure it out one day though!

Boy, you hsoudl have submitted those ideas to Debbie Stoller!  I think she'd dig the watermelon one.  If done in a sturdier yarn (or yarn doubled up anyway...), you could even add a pouch on the inside.

This is what I've been trying to conceptualize in my head! I had no clue how to make it when I bought my newest yarn stash addition, but will be starting on a crocheted purse soon. I will probably rip off the citrus theme for summer as citrus lifts bad moods and warm weather's toll.

The watermelon purse is just too awesome to ignore... I am very impressed with the way it turned out.
