my friend is throwing my fiancee a Daddy shower in addition to our baby shower.  I need to think of daddy gifts.   I have no idea.  I mean you have the obvious, daddy loves me..... blah blah.   But anything that he won't expect.  Any ideas?  Huh

when i was looking for gifts for my husband when our daughter was born i came across some good things, like

chocolate cigars
dad manual
im a new dad buy me a drink pin/badge

you could do a set of earplugs in a little box with a funny message on the box like do not disturb!! (mum probably wont like that though)!!
t shirt/vest set with funny sayings on eg whos the daddy on dads t shirt, im with daddy on the babys vest

hope that helps

What about that bath apron made from a towel?  (Martha Stewart site:  http://www.marthastewart.com/portal/site/mslo/menuitem.0e0eb51a2e6b5ad593598e10d373a0a0/?vgnextoid=b21476ecfd22f010VgnVCM1000003d370a0aRCRD&vgnextfmt=default&vgnextrefresh=1  )

I ordered my son (they are due 5/12/09) a diaper bag/backpack with his college colors and logo....he will get a big kick out of this, as he is insistent that the little one will attend his alma mater!

I also saw (somewhere...can't find link now!) a Daddy Rescue Kit (not sure if that was right name, tho'), which was a bag with many pockets, stuffed with bottles, rattle, etc.

Good Luck!

You've probably already seen these, but my first thought was one of the 'Daddy diaper duty tool belt' things..

If I can't be my own, I'd feel better dead.

The stuff he gets doesn't really have to be baby specific either. If he doesn't have them, maybe a really nice robe and slippers for when he has to get up the middle of the night. Also, a big blanket for cuddling when him and baby nap together.

Another nice non-material gift would be a fun day or night out before baby time and do stuff he really likes, but won't have as much time for later.
