Alright.  Well for my moms xmas gift, we [my dad and I] planned to remodel her bathroom.  Like there were big problems with the bathroom.  Here is a small list [some are easily fixable, and others arent]

Heater falling out of the ceiling
Two ceiling lights; one out, and one that constantly shorts
Freaking old wallpaper with beach themed-shells
Toilet seat falling off

So that was some of the things we tackled.  My dad installed two lights, and its TOTALLY brighter in the bathroom.  It felt scary peeing for the first time in there.  Like I could be seen or something.  So, we proceeded to paint the bathroom walls.  [of course, after peeling decades of different wallpapers off.  NEVER AGAIN WILL I ALLOW WALLPAPER IN A HOUSE I LIVE IN]

My dad went to home depot without me, but I mentioned a very VERY light pastel yellow.  He brought home a banana yellow.  Nonetheless, we painted the bathroom as such, and its a real eye opener now.  No joke.  I guess we werent planning to have such a bright bathroom after the light transplant.  Anyway.  I actually like the banana bathroom, but its my mothers bathroom, and what she wants goes, I guess.

I was planning a brown, yellow, dark blue theme for the whole bathroom.  No more yellow, so I will put dark browns and blues in there.  I kind of drew out something in photoshop, kind of giving me an idea of how it may look when done.  Im just scared that its going to look kind of kiddish.  Am I picking the right colors, what are your suggestions?  [BTW, Im determined to make the banana walls work.  My mom needs to open her eyes to other colors, besides tan, which is what the rest of the house is.] Anyway, here is the sketch:

I figured I would still incorporate the tan and browns that she loves so much, but add some colors that would pop.  Literally : )

You will have to post her reaction here!  If you do the accents well she will love the yellow I bet!  Now.. if it were the living room.. hmm ha ha!  Grin

LOL!  No way would I do banana yellow for a living room.  LOL!

Prolly chocolate in my opinion.  I feel bad because I love earth tones, just as much as she loves brown.  : (  I wish she would try something new.  Its not hard.  I mean, if you dont like it, paint over it, ne?  =Shes scared of experimenting.  If I wasnt living in an apartment, god knows what colors I'd have on my wall.  Maybe like Neon Orange, jk.

It seems that different people have an idea of what I am, and what I should be. And then there's me.

I think the brown/yellow/blue theme is a great color combo!  With enough brown I'm sure you could tone down the yellow  Wink  We actually have yellow (although a paler shade) on the walls in our bedroom, with brown and blue accents and it looks really great all together.
