Hi all! This is my first post... I have spent lots 'o' time admiring everyone's amazing projects, so I thought I'd try my hand at adding to the bountiful array of crafty goodness! My wonderful hubby got me an apple green KitchenAid stand mixer for Christmas (way to go honey!), so I decided I needed an apron for all of the cooking endeavors I am now capable of embarking upon. I found a lovely green skirt at Goodwill, and with a little frankensteining, it is now the apron of my dreams! I investigated a few apron patterns, but I ended up just winging it instead (hey, why do it the easy way?)  Wink

see how nicely it matches the mixer?  Grin

here's a detail shot of the top. also, the green grosgrain ribbon was at the waist and the hem of the skirt. it has been repurposed as the neck strap!

here's what it looks like tied in the back:

and here i am, looking rather emo-ish.

thanks so much for looking! what do you think???

What a great find at goodwill!  The fabric was perfect, I love the apron and especially the pintucks.  Do you have a before picture to compare it to?

And I covet your KitchenAid mixer, I want one of those quite badly... and I also love your tiny coloured kitchen tiles!

i was about halfway done making the apron when i thought, "dang, i should have taken a picture of the skirt BEFORE i hacked it up." sorry  Shocked

thanks so much for the compliment on the kitchen... i was so excited when my husband and i got the house to put in something with COLOR! also, the mixer was a splurge from my hubby, but it is totally worth whatever it cost!  Wink

That looks just amazing as an apron.  I can't even picture the original skirt.  Plus how awesome is your hubby for getting you a Kitchenaid mixer for Christmas

I love how the fabric matches your mixer so well. Congrats on the new mixer. But what I really love is all of the pin tucks on the apron and the coordinating green ribbon.
Really lovely!

I love your matching apron/mixer - I'm inspired to make an apron to match my seafoam mixer!
