I am broke like no other, but my father sent me $100 this x-mas and well that is half the cost of this (Singer 7430) machine at work right now. I have tried searching the internet for reviews and have come up with almost nothing for this machine. I am asking those of you out there who own this machine to give me their honest opinion of it. I do not want to waste my money.

I would really prefer to buy the Janome 8077, but the $60 more could go toward food or bills.

So I guess, if you have tried both of these machines, which would you buy if you were in my situation?

I hope to hear feedback soon as I am going to make the purchase either tomorrow at work or Wednesday at the latest. Thanks in advance!

I have a ton of NEW sewing patterns to swap. What do you have?

When it comes to the low budget, new machines, I lean toward some of the Janomes and the Kenmores (made by Janome).

No reviews usually means one of two things:
1) It's so new no one has had a chance to review it
2) It's pretty crummy

Granted, people that seriously blog about sewing aren't sewing on beginner level machines in the lowest price bracket, matter of fact most of them have made serious investments in their machines. Mid level machines will be reviewed & tested by these folks more frequently, often by request of either a company (paid to say good things) or a third party like a home related website (Martha Stewart, Better Homes & Gardens, etc.).

I think it's high time people start pestering Consumer Reports to test drive the low cost sewing machines.
