I took my daughter to Lubeck for the weekend, for the markets (god bless ryanair and their cheap flights) I loved the fabric shops, *we have poor choice and very expensive fabric here in ireland) I fell in love with the most amazing embossed velvet, it had an all-over pattern of roses, they didnt have the colour I wanted, and not enough of the closest colour.

The fabric was fairly heavy, not upholstery fabric weight, I want to make a coat from it. In red. Does this ring any bells, have you seen it in a fabric shop near you, if so can you tell me the name of the shop so I can continue searching online (so far no luck)

the other question I have is that a lot of the small (expensive) shops appeared to have clothing and someone with a sewing machine, how does that work, do you go in with a pattern and select fabric and have them make it up for you? or just go in to have something made specially for you? Is it expensive? Looked like a great idea.

thanks

I love personal swaps,  I print a lot of random fabric, usually with no purpose in mind.  let me know if you want any of it.

Maybe the fabric you are searching for is among these:

If not which colors where available apart from the red? I've seen a bunch of rose velvets lately, seems to be a trend...one I favor too Cheesy

javede no the fabric is not on that, the fabric was just one colour, the roses were slightly raised/embossed rather than a different colour, it was a non-stretch velvet, and gorgeous! There was just two colours in that shop a fuschia pink (but not enough yardage on there) and a dark silvery grey, in another shop I saw about a 1/4 metre of the dark red that I really wanted....

still that is a good site I will look more!

do you remember the name of the shop?
Or the street where it is?
Then you could just write them a letter/mail or phone them,
most little fabric shops are were friendly and will send you the fabric or tell you were they got it from.
