I wanted to try and sew some presents this Christmas. Here is a tote bag for my little cousin that she can use to carry around her colouring books and crayons. The cupcake fabric is from Joanns.

DIY Instructions
The bag is really easy to make Smiley All you have to do is sew on 2 large strips of fabric (a seam on the left, bottom and right edge of the fabric, leaving the top open because this is where the crayons will go) to the front of the bag, and then measuring 1 inch apart, sew lines vertically across each strip. You can use tailors chalk to mark the vertical lines (it comes off when you iron it). Other than that, it's just like a regular tote bag. I used piping at the top of the pockets, but if you don't have any on hand, it doesn't really matter if you leave it out!

The bag:

Here is what the fabric actually looks like (my flash washed out the pics, but I was too lazy to go downstairs and take them again):

I love how you have the crayons on the outside, so she doesnt have to take them all out of the bag when she wants to color. It's so cool!!

I love personal swaps! I always need fabric, findings/notions, and cute handmade things!

I love that cupcake fabric.  Absolutely yummy!

Want to learn to crochet or knit?  I have a ton of extra crochet hooks & circular knitting needles.  Will throw in some pattern books and yarn for anyone interested in a swap.

That is a simple, yet absolutely fantastic idea. I love it! I love that you have the crayons and the coloring books together, but each with their own space.
