Been sewing up a storm, and it feels good!

Simplicity 2922 Tunics/Dresses

I used a ribbon in back instead of a hook and eye. I also used a recycle zipper that was much too short, so this made that look much more like a 'feature' instead of a deviation Cheesy

Felt like it needed a little something else in front so I added the doodad:

Simplicity 2923 Shift Dresses

I love this dress, it looks great on, one of the few things I've made that I think I will really love to wear! Pls ignore Serious Face.

It as some lovely detail (before finishing touches):

And last but not least, self drafted corset and my own design, for a friend's birthday present:

I did post the corset on LJ, complete with confessions about its rough spots Wink

I'm feeling the creating bug this week, and got a few new books I'm dying to delve into, as well as a bunch of new patterns with the fabric ready and everything. Suppose I'll have to do some work at some point too, meh. Cheesy

Your corset is AWESOME! Did you used Roethke's tutorial, or used real boning?

The corset is really fun, isn't it? I'm so please with how it turned out.
And re. the fit of the dress, sewing your own clothes so often produces something that's lovely but just doesn't flatter. It's easy to dismiss how many items of clothing we try on in stores and don't care for, which makes it specially nice when something home made turns out so wearable Smiley

Your corset is AWESOME! Did you used Roethke's tutorial, or used real boning?

I used Roethke's and the "samleather" one on tripod to draft my first ones, they were both invaluable! This one is about the 3rd generation of going off down my own track, but they definitely gave me my start. It is boned at the seams with cable ties, believe it or not. Heavy duty cable ties, yes, but I am still amazed at how sturdy they are. We'll see how they wear long term, though.

Next time I am going to try flat seaming the fashion and canvas layers, and adding a separate lining. Having the canvas and fashion layers line up is a pain in the backside if they are very different fabrics and sewn separately.
