My first time entering a challenge - so be gentle with me!
I present the Pink Princess Desk and Chair!

I always make at least one 'practical' item for the kids each Christmas or Birthday as we rebuilt our house when we bought it 4 years ago and it still has a long way to go.
My littlest one was born right in the middle of the building chaos and her room has been a hotchpotch of hand me down furniture and has never seemed quite 'her' really. I decided she needed a princess desk and chair to fit her title (see my avatar!) and I raided her pile of 'Disney Princess' magazines and got to work.
The desk was an old one of my mother in laws that was seriously wobbly and needed a bit of DIY to hold it all together. It has been painted and decoupaged once already - but DD managed to soak it with water and ruin it - so it was sanded down again and redone. I added the MDF trim at the sides - the only item I actually bought - 3.50! I also cut the straps short on a pretty bag I got in a swap and added snaps to it so it attached to the chair and holds a book or colouring pens.
The original desk...

I then did the same to a chair that had been put out in a skip (dumpster) by her day nursery. The images are applied and then sealed with mod podge - and is completely wipeable.
The original chair...

I also painted a wooden blank frame that I bought from SuperU in France on holiday - they are fantastic for craft items (if I wasn't flying home I'd have bought tons more!) - it is varnished with sparkle Modpodge (a subtle glitter finish) and I had the beads in my stash.

As it has been a race against time I've not had time to finish the picture frame with ribbons stretched across it to then clip her artwork onto - I might add it later to complete the set!(and take photos of a tute to go with it.)
Hope you like it!
PS - For anyone interested the paint I used is Cath Kidston Furniture paint - water based and child friendly.

That's really neat. I too want one for me lol. I may just have to take your idea and use it on a table for my craft room or something.

Yay finally done moving!
